Teen Centered Contraceptive Care
As adults and healthcare providers, it’s easy to believe we know what’s best for our adolescent patients - especially those who are fairly new to contraceptive care. Becoming a successful advocate and healthcare provider for teens and young adults requires intentional shifts in the way we ask questions and offer guidance. By understanding adolescent cognitive development, we can improve our interactions with young patients. By applying the Reproductive Justice lens to contraception counseling for teens, we can support them in making the most informed and appropriate choices for themselves and prepare them to advocate for their own reproductive health now and in the future.
